Hookoom ("we", "us", "our") is developed by Hookoom Pvt. Ltd. We are building India's first honest hotel booking platform where real guests share real room photos and earn from bookings they influence.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

• WhatsApp number — when you join our WhatsApp community via the hero form or CTA section on our landing page.
• Email address — when you sign up for the email waitlist via our early access popup.

2.2 Automatically Collected Information

• Usage data — standard server logs including IP address, browser type, referring URL, and pages visited. This data is anonymised and used only for aggregate analytics.
• Cookies — we use minimal, functional-only cookies. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.

2.3 Information We Do Not Collect

At the pre-launch stage, we do not collect payment details, government ID, precise location, or any sensitive personal data.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To add you to our WhatsApp pre-launch community and send relevant updates.
• To notify you by email when Hookoom launches (email waitlist only).
• To understand aggregate interest levels and plan our North India launch.
• To respond to any queries you send us directly.

We will not use your contact details for unsolicited marketing unrelated to Hookoom.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

We collect and process your personal data on the basis of your consent, which you provide voluntarily when you enter your phone number or email and click to join. You can withdraw consent at any time (see Section 7).

5. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share data only with the following service providers, strictly for operating Hookoom:

• Sanity.io (content management and lead storage) — data stored on Sanity's cloud infrastructure.
• Netlify (website hosting and serverless functions) — your request passes through Netlify's servers when submitting contact details.
• WhatsApp / Meta — when you join our WhatsApp community, your phone number becomes part of that group per WhatsApp's own terms and privacy policy.

All third-party providers are contractually bound to handle your data securely and in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

6. Data Retention

We retain pre-launch waitlist data until:

• You request deletion (see Section 7), or
• 12 months after the Hookoom app launch, whichever comes first, after which waitlist records are securely deleted.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate data.
• Delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
• Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting prior processing.
• Opt out of communications — reply STOP to any WhatsApp message or email from us.

8. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), access controls, and storing tokens securely as environment variables. However, no internet transmission is completely secure. We will notify you promptly in the event of a data breach affecting your personal information.

9. Children's Privacy

Hookoom is not directed at individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a minor has submitted data to us, please contact us immediately.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be communicated via email (if you are on the waitlist) or posted prominently on this page. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
